The Prophet Muhammed (may peace be upon him) was a great man. he was nothing even close to a terrorist. He was stoned by the people of Ta'if to such an extent that his shoes were filled with blood. He forgave them and made good prayers for them. One woman got his closest uncle killed and ate his kidney. The prophet once again forgave her. Later once the Muslims dominated, they had the ability to take revenge, but instead the prophet forgave everybody. For a more recent event, check out hwat happend during the Crusades,Cristians shed so much blood that it was reported that blood ran knee deep that day. When the Muslims came back to powere with Salah eh Din , they forgave the people. The Prophet was a Generous, kind and caring man. He barely owned anything. He would give away everything he had. He put the needs of others before his own,try and find any one character as excellent as his.
Also If you think that making a horrible cartoon about a prophet of God is considered Freedom of speech Then how come when the prince of England went to a party wearing the swastika, the whole world became enraged and forced him to apologize? It would have been fine if denmark made the cartoon and just aplogized afterward, but instead other countries started publishing the cartoon amongst themselves.
We not only respect Mohammed (may peace be upon him) but if any one made a cartoon like that about Adam, Noah, Jesus,Moses (may peace be on them), or any of the other prophets of God, you would find the same protests in the Muslim World.
By the way do you know what Denmark is famous for? Yeah, thats right, The Vikings. People who plundered and murdered many for their own selfish reasons. So who were the terorists anyways?
Though burning down an embassy wasn't the best way to express the intense displeasure muslims feel when a prophet of God is insulted in such a rude and atrocious manner. Muslims can't just sit around and do nothing. When something bad is happening people with any morals should coem together and stop it, either physically, with your words, or you could just stay displeased at the wrong done.
Please Forgive me for anything incorrect i many have said orr if i offended you in any way.
Salam (Peace)

First of all, thanks for coming to the message board, and asking before making any assumptions.

I am a Muslim Syrian living in the United States. That being said, I completly shun the acts done by my fellow Syrian Brothers to the embassies. The first thing us muslims should have done was asked them selves "what would the prophet Mohammed have done?" and that being asked, he would have acted COMPLETELY differently. The prophet Mohammed (peace and blessings be opun him) smiled at the people who threw camel guts on him. The prophet showed the world the truth through peace, paitence, knowledge, modesty, and nice words. Not once did the prophet harm anyone intentionally, or because of his own agenda.

And then again the muslims these days have totally lost it. They have deviated from the true meaning of Islam, and the true brotherhood and unity we once had. Another indication is that the pictures were published in september, we reacted in february? Its up to the new generation of Muslims to seriously put things back the way they should be, and to get rid of this terrorist image everybody has on muslims.

I agree with both posts. However, I would like to note 2 things.
(1) You are right isn't the right reaction Muslims should have went by. They should have done what Mohammad (s) would have done. Prophet Mohammad (s) used 2 be d by his enemies severely and would still be nice to them.

(2) You need to also look at these countries who are acting violentely-mainly teh mid-east you need 2 keep in mind that They didn't make themselves violent, the U.S. made them violent by declaring war on them and resulting them with nothing. They are poor people with there homes and hearts taken away by the U.S.---theyve been traumatized there whole life through war, there life is filled with from there enemies. And your here telling us why do Muslism take everything volently. Well I would liek to ask you why the U.S. and other nations start war against the mid-east destorying there lives. You need 2 think be4 making dumb accusations.

All I can say is if you can draw a caricature of Mohammad and be silent about it and call it freedom of speech. What would happen if i drew an offending caricature of President Bush, or the Pope, I would probably be put in jail--and u know that.

I believe the three answers were understandable enough. But I just would like to add a little more and answer your question straightforward.

Think of it this way, a person who has left such a remarkable history being made fun of. Not only did he leave behind a remarkable history but also he advanced the way of thinking for Muslims. After Muhammad (s) death, the Muslim empire dispersed. With it, it spread important studies such as algebra, medicine, philosophy etc.. All this begun with Muhammad (s). Not only this but he was our LAST prophet making him our SPECIAL example. So making fun of him is just like someone making fun of you. So yes, this is definitely wrong but as the three replies has mentioned before, our reaction to it was wrong. The thing is, we need an ummah (an entire community of Muslims), so we can get back to how our prophet has taught us. Unfortunately, we don't so we respond in such ways because of panic.
